A "Brewing Philosophy of Beauty" Guided by Minimalism

RECIPE
RECIPE

ROCOCO developed its recipe with the goal of honoring Japan's exceptional food culture by developing a beer worthy of the prestige of Japan's storied fine dining restaurants. The ROCOCO recipe development process began by listening carefully to the chefs, sommeliers, and customers of famous Tokyo restaurants to thoroughly understand the needs, feelings, and concerns of fine dining restaurants and fine dining customers — from flavor and the presence the beer carries during a meal, to its lingering finish and visual impression.

To attain the highest quality by global standards, we collaborated with Dr. Hugo Patino, a world-leading beer recipe development expert with over 30 years of experience based in California — the global hub for cutting-edge brewing technology. Prototype samples were developed in California, air-shipped to Japan, and tasted by fine dining restaurants and customers. Over 18 months, we continuously refined the recipe based on their feedback, working alongside leading chefs and sommeliers to pursue a flavor that perfectly complements delicate cuisine.

The aesthetic principles of "wabi-sabi" in Japanese cuisine and craftsmanship were a key source of inspiration for the development of the ROCOCO recipe. Our ingredients are of the highest quality — premium malt and hops, and the naturally purified spring water of Mount Fuji. ROCOCO is naturally carbonated, which results in very fine carbonation (bubbles) and a delicate texture that doesn't give you the filling sensation of a typical beer.

By stripping away ornamentation and distilling beauty to its essential core, ROCOCO is a beer born of an elegant brewing philosophy — one that creates a seamless harmony with cuisine, transcending mere function to become a true "brewing philosophy of beauty."

The Meaning of "ROCOCO"

Passion and luxury are the foundations of our brand. The name ROCOCO represents our passion for creating Japan's first luxury beer and introducing it to leading fine dining restaurants and customers around the world. One of our founders chose the name after realizing that "ROCOCO" spelled backward spells "KOKORO," the Japanese word for "heart." This reflects our sincere respect toward the craftsmanship, creativity, history, dedication, and hospitality of the chefs and sommeliers of fine dining restaurants. It also represents our founder's commitment to creating innovative brands and products that aim to further elevate the fine dining experience. Furthermore, the word ROCOCO itself symbolizes luxury, by referencing the 18th-century artistic and luxury movement in France and Italy — a movement defined by elegance, aesthetic sensibility, and a spirit of play. These same values are woven into everything ROCOCO creates.

Our Tokyo Connection

Tokyo is the city where our founders met, designed, developed, and launched ROCOCO.
Tokyo is also the city with the most Michelin-starred restaurants globally, and is often celebrated for its culinary culture. It holds deep and special meaning as the origin of ROCOCO. We therefore embedded "Tokyo" in our full name with pride — as an acknowledgment of our roots and a tribute to the city that inspired us. The name "ROCOCO Tokyo" carries our founders' pride and respect for where it all began.

Logo Concept

If you look closely at our "ROCOCO" logo, you will notice that it is composed of 3 "O"s, each superimposed and positioned at different angles. These three different "O"s represent our 3 different founders coming together with a common vision to bring ROCOCO to life.

Our Label Design

The ROCOCO Tokyo WHITE bottle label, with its textured and memorable design, reflects the fresh taste and movement of our beer. You can feel its textured rhythm when you touch the label with your hands.
For us, design is more than appearance — it is a language we use to speak directly to our customers, engaging all five senses and creating experiences that linger in memory. ROCOCO treasures the language of design as a means of communication.
